Earth Science and Outdoor Skills

Course Description

Explore the amazing world around you through hands-on science and practical outdoor skills! This course is designed for elementary and middle school students who are curious about nature, the Earth, and how to confidently explore the outdoors.


Students will discover the fundamentals of Earth science, including rocks and minerals, volcanoes, earthquakes, weather, the water cycle, landforms, fossils, ecosystems, astronomy, plants, and herbology. Lessons are interactive and emphasize observation, experimentation, and critical thinking through fun demonstrations, projects, and outdoor activities.


In addition to Earth science, students will build valuable outdoor knowledge inspired by foundational scouting skills. Topics include map and compass navigation, knot tying, camping basics, outdoor safety, first aid awareness, wildlife identification, fire safety, and stewardship of natural resources. These activities help develop confidence, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills while fostering an appreciation for the outdoors.


Whether students are future scientists, adventurers, or simply love being outside, this course provides an exciting blend of science, exploration, and practical life skills that encourages curiosity, responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning.
